After 12 minutes of play, Slovenj Gradec's Theodor Trobina made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rade Zmrzlak in the 21st minute of play forced Miren-Kostanjevica MNK's goalkeeper Mirt Jakolič to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute, Rade Zmrzlak fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Mirt Jakolič, passed just outside the right post. Claudio Plut fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zekirja Kunstelj having to interfere. 40 minutes into the game, Amin Nedižavec was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Mirt Jakolič made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Theodor Trobina in the 72nd minute of play. Guerino Ponikvar charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Guerino Ponikvar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 73rd match minute, Miren-Kostanjevica MNK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guerino Ponikvar to maneuver through the defense. Jusuf Gulić hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. After 77 minutes of play Miren-Kostanjevica MNK's Jusuf Gulić was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After having played for 79 minutes, Theodor Trobina managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Slovenj Gradec's supporters crossed their fingers, but Theodor Trobina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mirt Jakolič took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rade Zmrzlak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Theodor Trobina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Mirt Jakolič tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Miren-Kostanjevica MNK's Mirt Jakolič played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rade Zmrzlak in the 89th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Slovenj Gradec's zone, Leonid Bolf stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zekirja Kunstelj came out of the goal and Leonid Bolf tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Claudio Plut fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zekirja Kunstelj having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Slovenj Gradec's Kasim Jakšić got a free kick in the 94th minute.
