In the 4th match minute, Hisingens Blattar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harald Löfkvist to maneuver through the defense. 5 minutes into the game, Harald Löfkvist was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hisingens Blattar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Linköping the free kick. In the 5th minute, Harald Löfkvist hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ulf Bolin took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 6th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Christoffer Månsson. Hisingens Blattar's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. A collision led to Linköping getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Wictor Lindholm hit a great ball. Bernt Asklöv made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niklas Öberg in the 9th minute of play. Linköping's Bernt Asklöv proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Linköping from getting a goal against them. Harald Löfkvist was shown his second yellow card after 14 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. When Bengt Östlund came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Linköping fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bengt Östlund couldn't finish the play. After having played for 20 minutes, Niklas Öberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hisingens Blattar's supporters crossed their fingers, but Niklas Öberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 32nd minute, Niklas Öberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Olof Klemensson fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Linköping's protests and gave Olof Klemensson a yellow card for diving instead. After 33 played minutes Linköping got a freekick which was hit by Olof Klemensson. Magnus Persson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Bengt Östlund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Linköping's Henrik Kling got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Niklas Öberg made a kick off. In the 58th minute, Henrik Kling left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Linköping fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Niklas Öberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 82nd minute, Niklas Öberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bernt Asklöv came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Hisingens Blattar's Gösta Berggren. But to his dismay, Gösta Berggren quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. After 94 minutes, Ulf Bolin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Linköping and the Hisingens Blattar players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Linköping getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Ulf Bolin hit a great ball.
