The audience was convinced that Ivar Backlund's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Michael Björkkvist was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. Frans Norberg struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Michael Björkkvist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gnarp FF. Michael Björkkvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frans Norberg in the 10th minute of the match. After 11 played minutes Gnarp FF got a freekick which was hit by Jörgen Palmkvist. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ove Willig in the 13th minute of play forced Gnarp FF's goalkeeper Ralf Pihl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 20 played minutes Österbybruk got a freekick which was hit by Karl Granqvist. After 22 minutes, Roland Bäcklin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gnarp FF and the Österbybruk players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 22nd minute, Roland Bäcklin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 36 minutes, Ingmar Hamnberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Österbybruk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ingmar Hamnberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ove Willig in the 38th minute of play forced Gnarp FF's goalkeeper Ralf Pihl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ove Willig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ralf Pihl having to interfere. 43 minutes into the match, Österbybruk's goal looked a bit too open when Frans Norberg came free, but Michael Björkkvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 44th minute, Tommy Häll hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Ivar Backlund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Michael Björkkvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frans Norberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frans Norberg made a kick off. If Ingmar Hamnberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Michael Björkkvist was a little too slow when Frans Norberg got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 59th minute. The score was now 0-2. When Ove Willig came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Österbybruk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ove Willig couldn't finish the play. If Ingmar Hamnberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frans Norberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michael Björkkvist having to interfere. In the 73rd minute, Ivar Backlund made a precise shot to the right of Michael Björkkvist. Österbybruk's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Michael Björkkvist was a little too slow when Frans Norberg got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 77th minute. The score was now 0-4. Roland Bäcklin got his second yellow card in the match during the 82nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Österbybruk booed when Gnarp FF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roland Bäcklin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dick Rudberg hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ove Willig in the 89th minute of play forced Gnarp FF's goalkeeper Ralf Pihl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Ivar Backlund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Michael Björkkvist was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Michel Ekegren. The Gnarp FF supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gnarp FF would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
