In the 12th minute, Ola Käcker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 14 minutes into the game, Kerkûk FC's Kaj Låsberg nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sverker Hammarberg made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. 22 minutes into the match, Santana Santalla had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sverker Hammarberg. Manchester United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Santana Santalla was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. 35 minutes into the match, Manchester United's goal looked a bit too open when Kaj Låsberg came free, but Sverker Hammarberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mattias Ahlman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sverker Hammarberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mattias Ahlman, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Manchester United's Sverker Hammarberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mattias Ahlman in the 42nd minute of play. After 45 minutes of play, Manchester United's Christian Ahlroht made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Yngve Ödman was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Santana Santalla to make the kick off. Mattias Ahlman might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sverker Hammarberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mattias Ahlman ran back to his position shaking his head. 53 minutes into the match, Mattias Ahlman notched a goal, 1-5, to the right of Manchester United's Sverker Hammarberg. Sverker Hammarberg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 59 minutes into the match, Manchester United's goalkeeper Sverker Hammarberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mattias Ahlman. Sverker Hammarberg stood somewhat misplaced when Mattias Ahlman came free in front of goal and shot 1-6 to the left of him in the 60 minute. 65 minutes into the game, Mattias Ahlman recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sverker Hammarberg. Mattias Ahlman showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-7. In the 69th match minute, Kerkûk FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Máté Pulai to maneuver through the defense. Santana Santalla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Sverker Hammarberg made a huge save. Mattias Ahlman took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sverker Hammarberg. Sverker Hammarberg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-8. Sverker Hammarberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kaj Låsberg in the 76th minute of the match. In the 77th minute, Manchester United's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Sören Vennerkvist fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Sverker Hammarberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mattias Ahlman in the 79th minute. Sverker Hammarberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kaj Låsberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manchester United's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Kaj Låsberg 82 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-9. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mevlüt Özal during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Manchester United getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Mevlüt Özal hit a great ball. In the 88th minute, Manchester United's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Mattias Ahlman fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 91 minutes in the game, Felix Pååk fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Sverker Hammarberg having to interfere. Manchester United's Sverker Hammarberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kaj Låsberg in the 94th minute of play. Kerkûk FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
