AIK's Sten Walroth proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save AIK from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ted Almstedt in the 16th minute of play forced AIK's goalkeeper Sten Walroth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nils-Erik Åhlberg came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by AIK's Okan Čiček. But to his dismay, Okan Čiček quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. With a little luck, AIK's Sten Walroth got control of the ball when Frank Brogren tried to sneak it across the goal line. Okan Čiček received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Nils-Erik Åhlberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Okan Čiček in the 28th minute of play forced Runa United's goalkeeper Nils-Erik Åhlberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Okan Čiček had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Ted Almstedt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Runa United's Nils-Erik Åhlberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Belchior Boaventura in the 37th minute of play. Nils-Erik Åhlberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Okan Čiček, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Frank Brogren's late challenge caught a AIK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frank Brogren helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Runa United getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Frank Brogren hit a great ball. After 44 played minutes AIK got a freekick which was hit by Sakarias Lundin. Runa United's Ted Almstedt was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 44th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Okan Čiček to make the kick off. Nils-Erik Åhlberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by George Browall in the 52nd minute. Nils-Erik Åhlberg was out of position in the 54 minute of play, and Belchior Boaventura capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Belchior Boaventura really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Frank Brogren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Runa United's supporters rose to their feet, but Frank Brogren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sten Walroth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 62 minutes had been played when some careless play by AIK's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Bo Eriksson was slow to take the kick. During this time Runa United's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Bo Eriksson got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sten Walroth quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 64th minute, Runa United's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Okan Čiček fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Runa United made a substitution. Bo Sandberg replaced Jörgen Lundström. Runa United's Nils-Erik Åhlberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Belchior Boaventura in the 67th minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Harry Boumans came free, but Sten Walroth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Okan Čiček could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Nils-Erik Åhlberg made a huge save. In the 72nd minute, Harry Boumans ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sten Walroth was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Harry Boumans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 78 minutes into the match, Runa United's goal looked a bit too open when Belchior Boaventura came free, but Nils-Erik Åhlberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nils-Erik Åhlberg came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by AIK's Belchior Boaventura. But to his dismay, Belchior Boaventura quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. AIK's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
