The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bernard Czeszyk during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Wiktor Zuraw showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan Perkowski in the 14th minute of the match. Wiktor Zuraw made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan Perkowski in the 19th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 20th minute of the game. One of FC Barcelona:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Academia Częstochowa:s goal. In the 21st minute there was a penalty for Academia Częstochowa. Wiktor Sroka stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Daniel Wojtowicz. 0-1. Wiktor Zuraw made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Feliks Olchowy sent off a good shot on target. Academia Częstochowa's Franciszek Mojsiewicz got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wiktor Zuraw showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan Perkowski, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After a defensive mix-up in FC Barcelona's zone, Boleslaw Dziuma stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Daniel Wojtowicz came out of the goal and Boleslaw Dziuma tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Boleslaw Dziuma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Academia Częstochowa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Barcelona the free kick. After 93 played minutes Academia Częstochowa got a freekick which was hit by Leon Gibowski. 95 minutes into the game, Jan Perkowski cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-5. Wiktor Zuraw was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Academia Częstochowa had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
