But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafal Bryk couldn't finish the play. Zbyszek Sobczak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernard Rutecki in the 33rd minute of the match. Zbyszek Sobczak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michal Rzeszutko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 39 minutes of play, Kolembród Jasło's Fryderyk Bryk made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zbyszek Sobczak was left in no man's land by his defense there! 42 minutes into the game, Michal Rzeszutko cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Zbyszek Sobczak was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cyprian Smolarek to make the kick off. In the 51st minute Fryderyk Bryk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zbyszek Sobczak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 53 minutes into the match, Kolembród Jasło's goal looked a bit too open when Cyprian Smolarek came free, but Pankracy Dudek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Billy Ostermann fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
