The audience thought a goal was coming when Torjus Knutsen got free with Truls Lervåg in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 10 minutes into the match, Ongeltveit's goalkeeper Truls Lervåg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Torjus Knutsen. When Krister Olsson fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ongeltveit's protests and gave Krister Olsson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd minute, Torjus Knutsen fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Iver Lohne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erland Volle having to interfere. Ongeltveit's Krister Olsson got his second yellow card of the match in the 28th minute. The referee ordered Krister Olsson off the ground. Krister Olsson kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Torjus Knutsen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Oslo Patriots's Helge Myhr couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ongeltveit. Erland Volle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iver Lohne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Iver Lohne managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ongeltveit's supporters rose to their feet, but Iver Lohne was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erland Volle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Iver Lohne made the kick off in the second half. Erland Volle made an important save on a dangerous shot by Iver Lohne in the 56th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bertel Soltveit in the 76th minute of play forced Ongeltveit's goalkeeper Truls Lervåg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oslo Patriots's Erland Volle proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Oslo Patriots from getting a goal against them. Erland Volle made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Iver Lohne sent off a good shot on target.
