Allard Wijkstra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 42nd minute Allard Wijkstra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Heijer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Coos Pothuizen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafael Heijer having to interfere. Rafael Heijer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Coos Pothuizen in the 46th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Allard Wijkstra to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Akkrum's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Ponk came free, but Jan Zeydeveld reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 70th match minute, Akkrum was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bennie Brinker to maneuver through the defense. After 76 played minutes Troepmannen got a freekick which was hit by Melvin Bronkhorst. If Coos Pothuizen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Coos Pothuizen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Rafael Heijer made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Troepmannen's Melvin Bronkhorst got a free kick in the 81st minute. In the 95th minute of the match, Coos Pothuizen got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rafael Heijer was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Troepmannen's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
