Boca Gregorian Juniors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jeffrey Springelkamp was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. In the 26th minute, Boca Gregorian Juniors's Evert Vennegoor seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Evert Vennegoor the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Boca Gregorian Juniors protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Evert Vennegoor had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 26th minute of the game. One of Boca Gregorian Juniors:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of La Divina Commedia:s goal. The referee gave La Divina Commedia a penalty, 28 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jeffrey Springelkamp, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Boca Gregorian Juniors's Henk-Jan Appel. 1-3. Henk-Jan Appel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Huib Haar in the 32nd minute of play. If Mark Kuiper had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mark Kuiper to make the kick off. Franz Kafka's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jákó Myroforidis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. 79 minutes had been played when some careless play by La Divina Commedia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Johannes Boon was slow to take the kick. During this time Boca Gregorian Juniors's players had a chance to rest. If Johannes Boon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilco Swart in the 83rd minute of play forced Boca Gregorian Juniors's goalkeeper Henk-Jan Appel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Henk-Jan Appel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeffrey Springelkamp, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute.
