The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jan Wessel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 麦树扬 in the 11th minute of play. Dolf Schoonderwoerd's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilfried Henselmans read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Ed Palsma was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 42nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 45 minutes into the match, Dolf Schoonderwoerd dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Wilfried Henselmans, 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dolf Schoonderwoerd was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute 麦树扬 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Wessel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilfried Henselmans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Piearres Olalla in the 63rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jack de Koning got free with Jan Wessel in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 65 minutes into the match, The Underdogs's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Porro came free, but Jan Wessel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dolf Schoonderwoerd in the 67th minute of play forced Osdorp FC's goalkeeper Wilfried Henselmans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wilfried Henselmans was left in no man's land by his defense there! 95 minutes into the match, Jack de Koning had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jan Wessel. The Underdogs's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jack de Koning was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-3. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
