After a rather tough play, Virgin Lover's Ermanno Cauli got a free kick in the 26th minute. Anselmo Barone took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Biagio Iori. Biagio Iori dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. If Donato Di Girolamo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the last second Arif Oğuz Cantürk throw himself and got hold of the ball when Carmine Soccio in the 42ndth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. 43 minutes into the game, Cristoforo Balboni was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Burnley FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Virgin Lover the free kick. In the 43rd minute, Cristoforo Balboni hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ermanno Di Marzio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carmine Soccio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Carmine Soccio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arif Oğuz Cantürk was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. If Carmine Soccio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carmine Soccio in the 69th minute of play forced Burnley FC's goalkeeper Arif Oğuz Cantürk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donato Di Girolamo might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arif Oğuz Cantürk. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Donato Di Girolamo ran back to his position shaking his head. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carmine Soccio in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arif Oğuz Cantürk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 76 minutes into the game, Ermanno Di Marzio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Burnley FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Virgin Lover the free kick. After 76 played minutes Burnley FC got a freekick which was hit by Ermanno Di Marzio. In the 81st minute Donato Di Girolamo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arif Oğuz Cantürk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81st minute, Donato Di Girolamo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Virgin Lover fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Burnley FC's Comunardo Tarantini in the 90th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Biagio Iori was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Virgin Lover through an amazing save. When Anselmo Barone came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Burnley FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anselmo Barone couldn't finish the play. Virgin Lover's Biagio Iori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Comunardo Tarantini in the 95th minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Burnley FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
