Longobarda's Lev Yashin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Endre Austnes in the 12th minute of play. After taking down the ball on Vaffancalcio's corner Steve Valk fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Lev Yashin quite easily take care of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Endre Austnes in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lev Yashin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Vaffancalcio's Dennis Carrea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Vaffancalcio from getting a goal against them. 22 minutes into the game, Frank Cherubini threw the ball into play from the sideline. Vaffancalcio's Moreno Torricelli quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 26th minute Endre Austnes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lev Yashin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Endre Austnes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lev Yashin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Vaffancalcio's Moreno Torricelli was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Lev Yashin in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When Endre Austnes came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Vaffancalcio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Endre Austnes couldn't finish the play. 40 minutes into the match, Vaffancalcio's goal looked a bit too open when Edwin Godholm came free, but Dennis Carrea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edwin Godholm was the one to do the kick off. Longobarda's Zhang Xiang was substituted for Edwin Godholm. Longobarda's Davide Moscatelli was substituted for Adriano Colantoni. Felice Lozzi got a throw-in 91 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Claudio Rosato. Ercole Rosi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Lev Yashin made a huge save. Felice Lozzi made in the 94th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Claudio Rosato. The Longobarda fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Vaffancalcio were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
