Victoriano Zurica who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 47thth minute tested the skills of Gregorio Bouzon when he managed to save the team from getting behind. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Josu Cabada to strike the kick off in the second half. When Oxel Verges fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Valencia FC's protests and gave Oxel Verges a yellow card for diving instead. After 60 played minutes Valencia FC got a freekick which was hit by Oxel Verges. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victoriano Zurica in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gregorio Bouzon saved Valencia FC from getting behind. After 66th play minutes Victoriano Zurica shot 6-0, a short shot which went by Gregorio Bouzon and just under the crossbar into goal. Gregorio Bouzon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victoriano Zurica, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. David Aznar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gregorio Bouzon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Sporting CP fully deserved thier win.
