The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ebbe Bird might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jozef Pekruhn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 12th minute Torsten Sydow shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jozef Pekruhn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th minute, Svenaage Hassan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 14 played minutes Rovst FC got a freekick which was hit by Miklos Tollstorff. Uwe Møllerstrøm fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jozef Pekruhn having to interfere. Uwe Møllerstrøm received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Jozef Pekruhn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jozef Pekruhn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Torsten Sydow in the 38th minute of the match. Kurth Tanesøe's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mickey Krogstad read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play.

The audience was convinced that Torsten Sydow's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jozef Pekruhn was relentless in the 78th minute of the game.
