The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 9th minute, Taus Brønfort ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Timo Otterdahl was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Timo Otterdahl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joakim Twietmeyer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edvardt Borreschmidt during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Helletofte FC's Timo Otterdahl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niko Børsum in the 21st minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joakim Twietmeyer in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Timo Otterdahl saved Helletofte FC from getting behind. When Ricki Ebenezerson fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Helletofte FC's protests and gave Ricki Ebenezerson a yellow card for diving instead. Ricki Ebenezerson hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Timo Otterdahl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Taus Brønfort in the 34th minute of play. Helletofte FC's Tage Dreisler quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Jørgen Skenkelsø, made in the 37th minute of the game. In the 46th minute, Taus Brønfort ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Timo Otterdahl was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Taus Brønfort managed to get in a good position for a shot. Depeche Mode's supporters rose to their feet, but Taus Brønfort was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Timo Otterdahl breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Timo Otterdahl stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joakim Twietmeyer's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Joakim Twietmeyer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Timo Otterdahl having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Depeche Mode eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
