Hønning's Laurids Hvenekilde was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ronnie Ebdrup in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Ronnie Ebdrup took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John-Arne Riise, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If John-Arne Riise had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 18 played minutes Hønning got a freekick which was hit by Simon Svanström. After 21 played minutes Hønning got a freekick which was hit by Laurids Hvenekilde. 21 minutes into the match, Hønning's goal looked a bit too open when Torkild Skovhave came free, but Dirch Glerum reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Hyklerne's Ronnie Ebdrup played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John-Arne Riise in the 31st minute of play. Hønning's John-Arne Riise got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by John-Arne Riise in the 38th minute of play forced FC Hyklerne's goalkeeper Ronnie Ebdrup to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

A sloppy throw-in by Bo Dogel in the 60th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Hønning's Carlos Eduardo Varela. Dirch Glerum showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronnie Spanger in the 61st minute of the match. In the 62nd match minute, Hønning was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Simon Svanström to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot 64 in the game by John-Arne Riise from a close distance when the talented Ronnie Ebdrup managed to make a qualified save. FC Hyklerne's players were relieved. 66 minutes into the match, Hønning's goal looked a bit too open when Dan Vøge came free, but Dirch Glerum reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ronnie Ebdrup came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Hønning's John-Arne Riise. But to his dismay, John-Arne Riise quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. The audience was convinced that John-Arne Riise's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ronnie Ebdrup was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Oliver Strømsborg during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 75th minute, Oliver Strømsborg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Hyklerne's Ronnie Ebdrup played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John-Arne Riise in the 77th minute of play. Sophus Jønstrup hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Hønning's Laurids Hvenekilde shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 79th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Ronnie Ebdrup but with some difficulty. Ronnie Ebdrup showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John-Arne Riise in the 83rd minute of the match. FC Hyklerne's defense didn't have a chance, in the 84th minute, when John-Arne Riise scored to the left of an out of position Ronnie Ebdrup, making the score, 0-4. After a defensive mix-up in FC Hyklerne's zone, John-Arne Riise stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronnie Ebdrup came out of the goal and John-Arne Riise tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Hønning booed when FC Hyklerne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrick Vyk didn't get a good kick on the ball. If John-Arne Riise had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hønning played a much better game than FC Hyklerne and deserved their victory. The FC Hyklerne players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
