If Viktor Stehmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 21st match minute, Lechia 1945 FFM was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toralf Beike to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Lechia 1945 FFM booed when Benteler FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gunnar Preuss didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Viktor Stehmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jürgen Bonesky showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rasmus Boxmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. In the 34th minute, Benteler FC's Alfonso Lendemans ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jürgen Bonesky. Jürgen Bonesky yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Jürgen Bonesky made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfonso Lendemans in the 41st minute of play. After 41 played minutes Lechia 1945 FFM got a freekick which was hit by Gideon Leuschner. A hard shot 42 in the game by Alfonso Lendemans from a close distance when the talented Jürgen Bonesky managed to make a qualified save. Lechia 1945 FFM's players were relieved. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aydin Bischoff to make the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Lechia 1945 FFM's goal looked a bit too open when Rasmus Boxmann came free, but Jürgen Bonesky reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, Viktor Stehmer notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Benteler FC's Hasso Rauh. Hasso Rauh was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Benteler FC's Hasso Rauh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aydin Bischoff in the 62nd minute of play. 65 minutes into the game, Gideon Leuschner cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Hasso Rauh was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hasso Rauh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aydin Bischoff, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. After 74 minutes of play, Benteler FC's Rasmus Boxmann made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jürgen Bonesky was left in no man's land by his defense there! Hasso Rauh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aydin Bischoff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aydin Bischoff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfonso Lendemans in the 92nd minute of play forced Lechia 1945 FFM's goalkeeper Jürgen Bonesky to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aydin Bischoff might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hasso Rauh. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aydin Bischoff ran back to his position shaking his head. Lechia 1945 FFM played a much better game than Benteler FC and deserved their victory. The Benteler FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
