With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pavlos Konstantakakis saved Hamburg Fighters from getting behind. Pavlos Konstantakakis made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Gunter Waller sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Szilárd Újváry in the 11th minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 20th minute Gunter Waller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pavlos Konstantakakis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the match, Zé Paulo da Silva had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pavlos Konstantakakis. Hamburg Fighters's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zé Paulo da Silva was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. With an all-out effort, Hertha 1969's Pavlos Konstantakakis threw himself towards the right post 28 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kristian Oswald, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wilhelm Nienhaus to make the kick off. Hamburg Fighters's Pavlos Konstantakakis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Paulo da Silva in the 58th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Gianluca Balla kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rune Jarstein. That made the score 4-1 in the 61 minute of play.
