When Vít Šimánek fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Medvedi's protests and gave Vít Šimánek a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erik Kolín in the 25th minute of play forced Medvedi's goalkeeper Vlastimil Šíma to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. AC Sparta Praha's Maxim Česák quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Vojtěch Kajzar, made in the 27th minute of the game. Ulf Åkesson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vlastimil Šíma having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Erik Kolín ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vlastimil Šíma was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. AC Sparta Praha's Bogdan Czarnecki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aleš Svatek in the 37th minute of play. Dušan Černík took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vlastimil Šíma. Vlastimil Šíma dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. In the 43rd minute Erik Kolín shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vlastimil Šíma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th match minute, AC Sparta Praha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ondřej Klimek to maneuver through the defense. Bogdan Czarnecki made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leonid Hejl in the 46th minute. Medvedi's Vít Šimánek shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 47th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Bogdan Czarnecki but with some difficulty. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aleš Svatek stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Medvedi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Saša Scholz to maneuver through the defense. 52 minutes into the match, Medvedi's goalkeeper Vlastimil Šíma had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dušan Černík. Aleš Svatek took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bogdan Czarnecki. Bogdan Czarnecki dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. 60 minutes into the match, Medvedi's Aleš Svatek sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bogdan Czarnecki narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dušan Černík fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vlastimil Šíma having to interfere. In the 68th minute AC Sparta Praha were awarded a corner. Dušan Černík went to the cornerflag to take it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dušan Černík in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vlastimil Šíma prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Medvedi's Edvard Oplt got a free kick in the 77th minute. 86 minutes into the match, Erik Kolín dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Vlastimil Šíma, 1-7. Aleš Svatek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bogdan Czarnecki having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Erik Kolín managed to get in a good position for a shot. AC Sparta Praha's supporters rose to their feet, but Erik Kolín was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vlastimil Šíma breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
