Cosimo Staniscia scored 1-0 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Timoteo Mela, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Timoteo Mela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jirko Bur in the 15th minute of play. With a little luck, Hrvatska's Timoteo Mela got control of the ball when Cosimo Staniscia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hrvatska's defense didn't have a chance, in the 18th minute, when Cosimo Staniscia scored to the left of an out of position Timoteo Mela, making the score, 2-0. The FC Lugano fans' excitement grew in the 20th match minute when FC Lugano's Ray Büeler looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Jirko Bur scored 4-0 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Timoteo Mela, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The wind increased when Cosimo Staniscia made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, FC Lugano's Jirko Bur got a free kick in the 54th minute. The Hrvatska fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Timoteo Mela should have stopped the shot. Gregor Wirth's late challenge caught a Hrvatska's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gregor Wirth helped the player get up and apologised. In the 74th minute, Cosimo Staniscia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Lugano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 9-0. When the match clock showed 76 minutes, the score became 10-0 when Ray Büeler sped through Hrvatska's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Timoteo Mela. Jirko Bur kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. In the 88th minute Jirko Bur shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timoteo Mela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elroy Zufferey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 93rd minute Elroy Zufferey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timoteo Mela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 96th minute, Leander Kobel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cosimo Staniscia in the 98th minute of play forced Hrvatska's goalkeeper Timoteo Mela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Lugano walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
