Loic Lindemann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lasse Wunderlin, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Hampton Jeker managed to get in a good position for a shot. Berna FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hampton Jeker was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Servatius Böni breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee felt a red card was in order, 63 minutes into the game, when Götz Oster put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 62nd minute of the game. One of FC Basel:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Berna FC:s goal. After a rather tough play, FC Basel's Sandro Kretz got a free kick in the 73rd minute. After 74 played minutes, Berna FC's Lyonel Dillier shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Servatius Böni came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Berna FC reached it. In the 76th match minute, FC Basel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Douglas Garnier to maneuver through the defense. Servatius Böni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raymond Kobel, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. After 77 played minutes Berna FC got a freekick which was hit by Charlie Greub. After 95 played minutes FC Basel got a freekick which was hit by Ruggero Weltert. 97 minutes into the game, Lasse Wunderlin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Basel's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Berna FC the free kick. In the 97th minute, Lasse Wunderlin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raymond Kobel in the 99th minute of play forced FC Basel's goalkeeper Servatius Böni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Berna FC had played much better football throughout.
