Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) FC Sint-Truiden's Sebbe Van Linthoudt started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When the match clock showed 3 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Sebbe Van Linthoudt sped through AFC Avennes's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Brend Loots. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Sebbe Van Linthoudt managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Sint-Truiden's supporters rose to their feet, but Sebbe Van Linthoudt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brend Loots breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Janes Abrams fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lennart Verengen having to interfere. If Artur Van Goolen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebbe Van Linthoudt in the 24th minute of play forced AFC Avennes's goalkeeper Brend Loots to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the game, Artur Van Goolen recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Lennart Verengen. Artur Van Goolen showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Henri-Xavier Van Der Meren hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. FC Sint-Truiden's Ief De Scheper got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Ief De Scheper had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 34 minutes, Christiaan Van Bever mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AFC Avennes and the FC Sint-Truiden players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to AFC Avennes getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Christiaan Van Bever hit a great ball. Ief De Scheper struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Brend Loots didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Sint-Truiden. Brend Loots showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebbe Van Linthoudt in the 41st minute of the match. Sebbe Van Linthoudt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Artur Van Goolen to strike the kick off in the second half. Ief De Schepers short, quick shot in the 52ndth minute got Brend Loots to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Ief De Scheper in the 55thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Brend Loots, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 57th minute Artur Van Goolen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lennart Verengen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in FC Sint-Truiden's zone, Artur Van Goolen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lennart Verengen came out of the goal and Artur Van Goolen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 61 minutes into the game, Lukas Soetemans was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Sint-Truiden's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AFC Avennes the free kick. The supporters of AFC Avennes booed when FC Sint-Truiden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lukas Soetemans didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Artur Van Goolen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ief De Schepers short, quick shot in the 76thth minute got Brend Loots to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Artur Van Goolen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Lennart Verengen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ief De Scheper could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Brend Loots made a huge save. Rudi Docx hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Lennart Verengen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artur Van Goolen in the 93rd minute of play. After some careless play in the FC Sint-Truiden defense, Artur Van Goolen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lennart Verengen. The FC Sint-Truiden fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lennart Verengen should have stopped the shot. AFC Avennes's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
