When Bobby Cuveliers fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AFC De Haan's protests and gave Bobby Cuveliers a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Mannen weten waarom booed when AFC De Haan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bobby Cuveliers didn't get a good kick on the ball. Robbie Coppens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Jacky Massenhove tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pieter-Maarten Verheugen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Constant Stessel, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. AFC De Haan's defense didn't have a chance, in the 47th minute, when Stein Van den Haute scored to the left of an out of position Jacky Massenhove, making the score, 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Robbie Coppens made the kick off in the second half. Constant Stessel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Pieter-Maarten Verheugen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pieter-Maarten Verheugen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Vereect, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. A collision led to Mannen weten waarom getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Stein Van den Haute managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mannen weten waarom's supporters rose to their feet, but Stein Van den Haute was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacky Massenhove breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 80 played minutes AFC De Haan got a freekick which was hit by Denis Van Bombergen. Pieter-Maarten Verheugen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marco Vereect in the 84th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Mannen weten waarom's Anton van Haecht got a free kick in the 87th minute. Reinaud Van den Ende kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match.
