The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Hulsters booed when KAA Tongerlo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillaume Limpens didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daevy Koenens recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cedric Segers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 14 minutes into the game, Hulsters's Xander Hoeybroeck nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Douglas Vandewalle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Douglas Vandewalle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xander Hoeybroeck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Daevy Koenens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, KAA Tongerlo's Guillaume Limpens got a free kick in the 25th minute. 26 minutes into the game, Xander Hoeybroeck was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hulsters's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave KAA Tongerlo the free kick. In the 38thth minute of the game Guillaume Limpens who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hulsters's Cederique Koninckx was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jim Van Den Hout hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. 45 minutes into the match, KAA Tongerlo's goal looked a bit too open when Xander Hoeybroeck came free, but Douglas Vandewalle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Nick Van der Veeken charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nick Van der Veeken the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jim Van Den Hout sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Daevy Koenens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74th minute, Jim Van Den Hout ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cederique Koninckx was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Cederique Koninckx showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernt Raeijmaeckers in the 78th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in KAA Tongerlo's zone, Xander Hoeybroeck stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Douglas Vandewalle came out of the goal and Xander Hoeybroeck tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cederique Koninckx took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernt Raeijmaeckers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 93rd minute Xander Hoeybroeck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Douglas Vandewalle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 94 minutes into the match, Daevy Koenens had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Douglas Vandewalle. KAA Tongerlo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daevy Koenens was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. KAA Tongerlo's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
