De Matoekoes's Mathis Grootaers got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mathis Grootaers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yanis Terreur in the 16th minute of play forced De Matoekoes's goalkeeper Garry Imbereghs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roger Diependaele charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roger Diependaele the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of RSC Sint-Gillis-Waas booed when De Matoekoes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roger Diependaele didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rob Neys made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Wart Keldermans sent off a good shot on target. When Yanne Van Landschoot was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 23 minutes had been played. A collision led to De Matoekoes getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Guy Verdun hit a great ball. With his leg Rob Neys managed to avoid a goal in the 29thth minute, when De Matoekoes's Mathis Grootaers fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Rob Neys made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mathis Grootaers in the 32nd minute. In the 37th minute Yanis Terreur shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Garry Imbereghs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Octaaf Maes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jacobus Elzen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute, Mathis Grootaers reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Rob Neys. The goal made the score 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 54th minute, Wart Keldermans left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The De Matoekoes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. The audience was convinced that Wart Keldermans's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rob Neys was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. With an all-out effort, RSC Sint-Gillis-Waas's Garry Imbereghs threw himself towards the right post 67 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Hubert Hollandts, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Yanis Terreur managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 89th minute Mathis Grootaers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rob Neys saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rob Neys showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octaaf Maes, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. In the 96th minute, Wart Keldermans made a precise shot to the right of Rob Neys. RSC Sint-Gillis-Waas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. De Matoekoes had won after a very even match.
