The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Remy Bekaert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The tension between the De Rudies and the Esquirla FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Kenny Van Hemel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Benny Wiggers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Christof Martens made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Remy Bekaert sent off a good shot on target. Christof Martens didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carlos Keldermans went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Remy Bekaert came free with the goalkeeper in the 28th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Christof Martens could save by the left post. A collision led to De Rudies getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Mark Meulemans hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Keldermans in the 35th minute of play forced Esquirla FC's goalkeeper Christof Martens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th minute, Ruud Van Den Eijnde left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The De Rudies fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Christof Martens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luuk Justens in the 40th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Paul-Louis Huybrechts made the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the game, Carlos Keldermans cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Christof Martens was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 62 minutes into the match, Esquirla FC's goal looked a bit too open when Remy Bekaert came free, but Christof Martens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Christof Martens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Keldermans in the 63rd minute of the match. Remy Bekaert scored 6-0 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Christof Martens, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 70 minutes into the match, De Rudies's goalkeeper Benny Wiggers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nestor Bastin. Christof Martens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Keldermans in the 76th minute of play. In the 95th match minute, Esquirla FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorg Uijterhoven to maneuver through the defense. Esquirla FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
