The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 3 minutes, Zé Pedrosa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hedge End FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Pedrosa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 7 played minutes Hedge End FC got a freekick which was hit by Luís Malheiro. If Cláudio Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th match minute, Holmfirth City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toni Dos Santos to maneuver through the defense. Hedge End FC's Saúl Rochedo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 15th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Holmfirth City. In the 19th minute of the match Alda Roma shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Toni Dos Santos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Toni Dos Santos was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Zé Pedrosa showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 21 minute of play. Holmfirth City's Toni Dos Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Pedrosa in the 25th minute of play. Hortêncio Cunha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 31 minutes, Avelino Gonçalves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hedge End FC and the Holmfirth City players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Holmfirth City booed when Hedge End FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Avelino Gonçalves didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 34th minute Zé Pedrosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toni Dos Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cláudio Nascimento's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 41stth minute, Toni Dos Santos skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Cláudio Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hedge End FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cláudio Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Toni Dos Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 45 played minutes Hedge End FC got a freekick which was hit by Luís Malheiro. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé Pedrosa made a kick off. Henrique Lando sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Toni Dos Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cláudio Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cláudio Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Toni Dos Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Henrique Lando fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hélio Nascimento having to interfere. The Hedge End FC fans' excitement grew in the 73rd match minute when Hedge End FC's Luís Malheiro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience thought a goal was coming when Henrique Lando got free with Hélio Nascimento in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Hedge End FC fully deserved thier win.
