The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Virgil Teodorescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Liviu Nandriș having to interfere. Liviu Nandriș took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihai Bălțăteanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Rivulus CF's zone, Mihai Bălțăteanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Liviu Nandriș came out of the goal and Mihai Bălțăteanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihai Bălțăteanu in the 13th minute of play forced Rivulus CF's goalkeeper Liviu Nandriș to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexandru Găină during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 15 played minutes Republica Ploiești got a freekick which was hit by Alexandru Găină. 19 minutes into the match, Republica Ploiești's goal looked a bit too open when Octavian Marian came free, but Horia Filipașcu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Octavian Marian fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horia Filipașcu having to interfere. A hard shot by Petru Chiuzbaian from long distance, 23 minutes into the match, got Liviu Nandriș's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. A collision led to Rivulus CF getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Niculae Botescu hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihai Bălțăteanu in the 25th minute of play forced Rivulus CF's goalkeeper Liviu Nandriș to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Octavian Marian recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rivulus CF's Liviu Nandriș proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Rivulus CF from getting a goal against them. In the 43rd match minute, Republica Ploiești was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandru Găină to maneuver through the defense. Ernest Danciu, 43 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Republica Ploiești's Virgil Teodorescu got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Liviu Nandriș showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Virgil Teodorescu in the 67th minute of the match. In the 67th minute, Niculae Botescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Virgil Teodorescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 77 minutes into the match, Rivulus CF's goal looked a bit too open when Virgil Teodorescu came free, but Liviu Nandriș reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Liviu Nandriș showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mihai Bălțăteanu in the 78th minute of the match. In the 80thth minute of the game Virgil Teodorescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rivulus CF's Liviu Nandriș was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Octavian Marian fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horia Filipașcu having to interfere. In the 84th minute, Emil Găvănescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Virgil Teodorescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Liviu Nandriș having to interfere. 93 minutes into the match, Republica Ploiești's goalkeeper Horia Filipașcu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Emil Găvănescu. Virgil Teodorescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
