FCSB's defense didn't have a chance, in the 18th minute, when Virgil Păltineanu scored to the left of an out of position Stelian Zburlea, making the score, 3-0. FCSB's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nicolae Ghizdeanu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paul Angheluță stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 57 minutes of play, Mehadia CS's Panait Ştirbu made it 6-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Stelian Zburlea was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nicolae Lamru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marian Oprescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliodor Ficsinescu having to interfere. 78 minutes into the game, Mehadia CS's Nicolae Ghizdeanu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stelian Zburlea made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-1. Panait Ştirbu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nicolae Lamru charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nicolae Lamru the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nicolae Lamru hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match.
