Dacian Ecobescu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gigel Boeru's shot from short distance in the 2nd minute. Dacian Ecobescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oliver Alberda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oliver Alberda took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dacian Ecobescu. Dacian Ecobescu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Gelu Feraru blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dorel Lupșe having to make a save. 13 minutes into the match, Gigel Boeru notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Old Boys's Dacian Ecobescu. Dacian Ecobescu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oliver Alberda in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dacian Ecobescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 16th minute, Basarab Strungă hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gigel Boeru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 18th minute Oliver Alberda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dacian Ecobescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Gigel Boeru came free, but Dacian Ecobescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dacian Ecobescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oliver Alberda in the 21st minute of the match. In the 25th match minute, Granicerul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laurențiu Ciocâltea to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cornel Panaitescu in the 25th minute of play forced Granicerul's goalkeeper Dorel Lupșe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Basarab Strungă lost his temper 28 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 29 played minutes Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Basarab Strungă. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gigel Boeru in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. Iacob Drăgoescu hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oliver Alberda in the 38th minute of play forced Old Boys's goalkeeper Dacian Ecobescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute Gigel Boeru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dacian Ecobescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iordache Ioneasa in the 40th minute of play forced Old Boys's goalkeeper Dacian Ecobescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Granicerul's Isac Melentie got a free kick in the 44th minute. 45 minutes into the match, Old Boys's Cornel Panaitescu broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 47th minute Gigel Boeru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dacian Ecobescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Granicerul were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gelu Feraru stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 54 minutes, Gigel Boeru put it in 0-4 from a short distance just to the right of Dacian Ecobescu. Dacian Ecobescu stood somewhat misplaced when Gigel Boeru came free in front of goal and shot 0-5 to the left of him in the 58 minute. After some careless play in the Old Boys defense, Gigel Boeru kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dacian Ecobescu. The Old Boys fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dacian Ecobescu should have stopped the shot. Oliver Alberda who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 65thth minute tested the skills of Dacian Ecobescu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 66th minute Oliver Alberda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dacian Ecobescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Granicerul made a substitution. Ionel Dănciulescu replaced Gigel Boeru. The supporters of Granicerul booed when Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pär Rolfsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 70th minute of the match, Isac Melentie got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dacian Ecobescu was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 74 minutes into the match, Old Boys's goalkeeper Dacian Ecobescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ionel Dănciulescu. If Ionel Dănciulescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Granicerul's Oliver Alberda in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Old Boys's goalie prevented a goal. Dacian Ecobescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oliver Alberda, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Ionel Dănciulescu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 84thth minute, Dacian Ecobescu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After taking down the ball on Granicerul's corner Isac Melentie fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Dacian Ecobescu quite easily take care of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Emil Harhoiu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Old Boys's supporters rose to their feet, but Emil Harhoiu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dorel Lupșe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dacian Ecobescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oliver Alberda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 94th minute, Ionel Dănciulescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Granicerul fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-8. When the match was over Granicerul could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Old Boys throughout the match.
