After 3 minutes, Gigel Lozovan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Izesti and the Soimusul AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC Izesti's Gigel Lozovan got a free kick in the 3rd minute. The long shot by Virgil Măgurean in the 4th minute really tested Bogdan Stelea's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Soimusul AFC's Gao Yan Zhen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeo Mutu in the 24th minute of play. Bogdan Stelea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Costin Albulescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Soimusul AFC's Enrico Arias got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 33rd minute of the match Soimusul AFC got a corner. FC Izesti's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Virgil Măgurean ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Soimusul AFC's corner Virgil Măgurean fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Bogdan Stelea quite easily take care of the ball. Gao Yan Zhen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cosmin Gâțea, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. FC Izesti's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luca Lăzan in the 38th minute. After taking down the ball on FC Izesti's corner Luca Lăzan fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Gao Yan Zhen quite easily take care of the ball. 41 minutes into the match, FC Izesti's goal looked a bit too open when Costin Albulescu came free, but Bogdan Stelea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gigi Otopeanu to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Gigi Otopeanu made a precise shot to the right of Bogdan Stelea. Soimusul AFC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Bogdan Stelea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enrico Arias in the 79th minute of play. In the 80thth minute of the game Gigi Otopeanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Izesti's Bogdan Stelea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gigi Otopeanu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Soimusul AFC made a substitution. Calistrat Albu replaced Ricardo Grigore. In the 85th minute, Costin Albulescu made a precise shot to the right of Bogdan Stelea. FC Izesti's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Soimusul AFC made a substitution. Romeo Dijmărescu replaced Enrico Arias. After a defensive mix-up in FC Izesti's zone, Gigi Otopeanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bogdan Stelea came out of the goal and Gigi Otopeanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. FC Izesti's Bogdan Stelea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeo Dijmărescu in the 93rd minute of play. Iulian Ologu's late challenge caught a FC Izesti's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Iulian Ologu helped the player get up and apologised. After 95 played minutes Soimusul AFC got a freekick which was hit by Iulian Ologu. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iurie Croitoru got free with Gao Yan Zhen in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. FC Izesti's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
