With an all-out effort, DZINTARS's Piotr Tworek threw himself towards the right post 36 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Bryant Solis, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 46th match minute, FC Iecēni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gints Lielgalvis to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Egons Ozollapa got free with Piotr Tworek in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 68th minute, Edmunds Tambergs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 69th minute, Leons Gudrenieks got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pål Bergmann made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Marek Hamšík sent off a good shot on target. Piotr Tworek came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by DZINTARS's Bryant Solis. But to his dismay, Bryant Solis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Henrihs Linkūns hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Pål Bergmann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marek Hamšík in the 82nd minute. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Bryant Solis put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Piotr Tworek. In the 90th minute Henrihs Linkūns shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Piotr Tworek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Egons Ozollapa in the 94th minute of play forced FC Iecēni's goalkeeper Piotr Tworek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. DZINTARS's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
