Spectators: 10801 (Terracing: 8102, Seating: 2484, VIP seats: 215) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Marin Ailenei kicked off to start the match. 7 minutes into the match, FC Riga's goalkeeper Saivis Kikals had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marek Hamšík. After a rather tough play, FC Iecēni's Leons Gudrenieks got a free kick in the 8th minute. Piotr Tworek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jimmy Svenningsted in the 9th minute of play. Saivis Kikals took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olavs Eliass, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Piotr Tworek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jimmy Svenningsted in the 15th minute of the match. FC Riga's Saivis Kikals played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marek Hamšík in the 17th minute of play. Saivis Kikals made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Viesturs Pilāns sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marin Ailenei in the 22nd minute of play forced FC Iecēni's goalkeeper Piotr Tworek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, FC Riga's Saivis Kikals got control of the ball when Olavs Eliass tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 24th minute Nils Dortāns shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Piotr Tworek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Piotr Tworek stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jimmy Svenningsted's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. FC Riga's Saivis Kikals played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viesturs Pilāns in the 32nd minute of play. Saivis Kikals showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olavs Eliass, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 34 minutes into the match, Marin Ailenei had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Piotr Tworek. FC Iecēni's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marin Ailenei was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Piotr Tworek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marin Ailenei, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Saivis Kikals showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Viesturs Pilāns in the 44th minute of the match. The supporters of FC Riga booed when FC Iecēni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olavs Eliass didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marek Hamšík to strike the kick off in the second half. Saivis Kikals made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viesturs Pilāns in the 51st minute of play. In the 52nd minute Marin Ailenei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Piotr Tworek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Marin Ailenei managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Riga's supporters rose to their feet, but Marin Ailenei was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Piotr Tworek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marin Ailenei received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Piotr Tworek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Saivis Kikals took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marek Hamšík, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olavs Eliass scored 1-1 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Saivis Kikals, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 69 minutes FC Riga's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Leons Gudrenieks who took care of the corner kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Leons Gudrenieks managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Iecēni's supporters rose to their feet, but Leons Gudrenieks was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Saivis Kikals breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Marin Ailenei put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Piotr Tworek. After a defensive mix-up in FC Iecēni's zone, Nils Dortāns stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Piotr Tworek came out of the goal and Nils Dortāns tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the FC Riga defense, Marek Hamšík kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Saivis Kikals. The FC Riga fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Saivis Kikals should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marek Hamšík in the 91st minute of play forced FC Riga's goalkeeper Saivis Kikals to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marin Ailenei in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Piotr Tworek prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 94th match minute, FC Riga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erlends Skurulis to maneuver through the defense. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
