Saivis Kikals made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kārlis Dzintars in the 3rd minute of play. If Nils Dortāns had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kārlis Dzintars in the 8th minute of play forced FC Riga's goalkeeper Saivis Kikals to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With 9 minutes on the clock, Laimiņs Veterbergs commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Laimiņs Veterbergs hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. In the 10th minute of the match Egons Ozollapa sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Saivis Kikals skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to DZINTARS getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Saulvedis Salaszemnieks hit a great ball. Saivis Kikals took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valts Nebars, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jimmy Svenningsted came free with the goalkeeper in the 21st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Pål Bergmann could save by the left post. Saivis Kikals showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kārlis Dzintars, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Voldemārs Cariņš received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Pål Bergmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pål Bergmann made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Jimmy Svenningsted sent off a good shot on target. 42 minutes into the match, FC Riga's goal looked a bit too open when Egons Ozollapa came free, but Saivis Kikals reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Sidnei Silveira managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Riga's supporters rose to their feet, but Sidnei Silveira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pål Bergmann breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After having played for 52 minutes, Nils Dortāns managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Riga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nils Dortāns was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 53rd minute, Jimmy Svenningsted hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Saivis Kikals made an important save on a dangerous shot by Egons Ozollapa in the 54th minute. In the 57th minute of the match, Bryant Solis tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Saivis Kikals saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Saivis Kikals took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kārlis Dzintars, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Saivis Kikals made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Ģirts Ozols sent off a good shot on target. Normunds Brencāns kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. The supporters of DZINTARS booed when FC Riga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Normunds Brencāns didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 73rd minute of the match Edmunds Tambergs sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Saivis Kikals skillfully saved the ball. 75 minutes into the match, FC Riga's goal looked a bit too open when Edmunds Tambergs came free, but Saivis Kikals reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Saivis Kikals had great luck who in the 75thth minute grab hold of the ball when Bryant Solis from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Saivis Kikals took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bryant Solis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as DZINTARS's Valts Nebars slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Saivis Kikals. That made the score 0-1 after 84 minutes of play. 88 minutes into the match, FC Riga's goal looked a bit too open when Egons Ozollapa came free, but Saivis Kikals reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The throw-in from Valts Nebars in the 92nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FC Riga's Erlends Skurulis. Through an outstanding action, after 94 minutes, Saivis Kikals successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 95th minute Edmunds Tambergs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Saivis Kikals saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. DZINTARS's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
