Dimitris Latsis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ's Alkinoos Sfakianakis in the 33rd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Thodoris Vamvakeris was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Chelsea through an amazing save. Savas Myroforidis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Thodoris Vamvakeris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alkinoos Sfakianakis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thodoris Vamvakeris having to interfere. After having played for 38 minutes, Thomas Manousakis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ignatios Baltimas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Chelsea's zone, Ignatios Baltimas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thodoris Vamvakeris came out of the goal and Ignatios Baltimas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ's Dimitris Latsis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ignatios Kabolis in the 42nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alkinoos Sfakianakis in the 45th minute of play forced Chelsea's goalkeeper Thodoris Vamvakeris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ's Ignatios Baltimas got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Chelsea were winning 0-1.

The supporters of ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ booed when Chelsea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nikos Sardelis didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, ΕΡΥΘΡΟΣ ΑΣΤΕΡΑΣ's Dimitris Latsis got control of the ball when Stathis Mandrinos tried to sneak it across the goal line.
