The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd match minute, Aris Thessaloniki was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nikos Paltos to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as 조 정 kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Evaggelos Skentzos. That made the score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. A throw-in in the 12th minute of the game was made by Petros Balopoulos with Spyros Kanelidis as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Aris Thessaloniki's goalkeeper Evaggelos Skentzos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Aris Thessaloniki's Evaggelos Skentzos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Aris Thessaloniki from getting a goal against them. 20 minutes into the match, Notis Liadelis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Evaggelos Skentzos. After some careless play in the Aris Thessaloniki defense, 조 정 kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Evaggelos Skentzos. The Aris Thessaloniki fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Evaggelos Skentzos should have stopped the shot. 32 minutes into the game, Notis Liadelis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AIAS FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Aris Thessaloniki the free kick. When Giorgos Rorris fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AIAS FC's protests and gave Giorgos Rorris a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to AIAS FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Giorgos Rorris hit a great ball. Aris Thessaloniki's Evaggelos Skentzos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 조 정 in the 37th minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Aris Thessaloniki's goalkeeper Evaggelos Skentzos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robbie Fowler. Sotiris Galanis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefanos Karanastasis having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vaggelis Ivanidis was the one to do the kick off. Giorgos Papakrivos kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. The AIAS FC fans' excitement grew in the 71st match minute when AIAS FC's Robbie Fowler looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 75th minute of the match Sotos Manousakis shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Evaggelos Skentzos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Vaggelis Ivanidis dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Stefanos Karanastasis, 6-1. Aris Thessaloniki's Evaggelos Skentzos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giorgos Rorris in the 86th minute of play. Robbie Fowler might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Evaggelos Skentzos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Robbie Fowler ran back to his position shaking his head. If Robbie Fowler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. AIAS FC fully deserved thier win.
