If Mika Heinikallio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eeli Sulonen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Usko Myllylä having to interfere. After 18 played minutes FCW got a freekick which was hit by Arvo Pyörälä. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 18th minute of the game. One of FCW:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Tavola:s goal. The referee gave Tavola a penalty, 19 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Asmo Koivisto, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of FCW's Usko Myllylä. 0-2. After 24 played minutes Tavola got a freekick which was hit by Atro Pikkarainen. Miikka Rahkonen charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Miikka Rahkonen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 26th minute, Miikka Rahkonen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Miikka Rahkonen kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Janne Tuuri. That made the score 1-2 in the 39 minute of play. Usko Myllylä took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mika Heinikallio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Sami Pihkala's late challenge caught a FCW's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. FCW's Usko Myllylä played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mika Heinikallio in the 78th minute of play. Tavola's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
