The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Panu Kangasniemi during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 13th match minute, Ajax Ajax was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Panu Kangasniemi to maneuver through the defense. Potoskavaara IFK's Krister Odin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Potoskavaara IFK from getting a goal against them. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elgiz Vermäliyev stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With 52 minutes on the clock, Heikki Kangaskorpi commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee gave Ajax Ajax a penalty, 54 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ilmari Paajanen, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Potoskavaara IFK's Krister Odin. 4-0. 58 minutes into the match, Ajax Ajax's Rafael Kiprusoff sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Krister Odin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Krister Odin came out of the goal and Panu Kangasniemi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Krister Odin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eemeli Hiedanpää in the 81st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valto Lehto in the 83rd minute of play forced Potoskavaara IFK's goalkeeper Krister Odin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Krister Odin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eemeli Hiedanpää in the 86th minute of play. Eemeli Hiedanpää's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Krister Odin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. In the 93rd match minute, Potoskavaara IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lassi Kolsi to maneuver through the defense.
