In the 15th minute Hamdullah Tokcan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kutalp Şahsuvaroğlu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Necmettin İçkin's late challenge caught a Karsiyaka's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Necmettin İçkin helped the player get up and apologised. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Okanay Canver put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Ahmet Kadri Paşa.
