Utkan Ortaç made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Şenel Tuğsavan in the 4th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 6 minutes, Yılmaz Veli put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Utkan Ortaç. Utkan Ortaç came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Balıkesirspor's Atilla Kağan Reşit. But to his dismay, Atilla Kağan Reşit quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. A throw-in in the 14th minute of the game was made by Aytek Bucak with Vânderson Pitta as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Yavuz Selimhan Sağman hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in GÖZTEPE SK's zone, Atilla Kağan Reşit stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Utkan Ortaç came out of the goal and Atilla Kağan Reşit tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 20 minutes, Iakovos Papadimas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GÖZTEPE SK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iakovos Papadimas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 25 minutes into the game, Çelebi Selami was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GÖZTEPE SK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Balıkesirspor the free kick. A collision led to GÖZTEPE SK getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Çelebi Selami hit a great ball. Utkan Ortaç made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vânderson Pitta in the 27th minute of play. Uluç Berkman hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Balıkesirspor's Aytek Bucak got a free kick in the 30th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Orbay Samin got free with Gökhan Sehhar in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gökhan Sehhar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vicente Flores, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. After a rather tough play, Balıkesirspor's Sven-Ove Björkdahl got a free kick in the 34th minute. 37 minutes into the match, Balıkesirspor's goal looked a bit too open when Vicente Flores came free, but Gökhan Sehhar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gökhan Sehhar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vicente Flores, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Utkan Ortaç stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Yılmaz Veli's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. Veysel Şahistan didn't quite understand what happened when in the 46 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Yılmaz Veli to make the kick off. Gökhan Sehhar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iakovos Papadimas, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Utkan Ortaç didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Balıkesirspor. Gökhan Sehhar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orbay Samin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 80 played minutes GÖZTEPE SK got a freekick which was hit by Uluç Berkman. Balıkesirspor's Gökhan Sehhar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orbay Samin in the 85th minute of play. Şenel Tuğsavan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Utkan Ortaç made a huge save. Şenel Tuğsavan might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Utkan Ortaç. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Şenel Tuğsavan ran back to his position shaking his head. Balıkesirspor's Gökhan Sehhar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vicente Flores in the 93rd minute of play. Utkan Ortaç made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Yılmaz Veli sent off a good shot on target. The GÖZTEPE SK fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Balıkesirspor were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
