Newells Old Boys's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Newells Old Boys's Yalçın Erensoy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Newells Old Boys from getting a goal against them. Yalçın Erensoy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Macit Sağıt in the 18th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Kenny N'Diaye's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kazım Lokman was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. The Beşiktaş çArşı fans cheered their team off the field, for while Newells Old Boys had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
