Rudolf Nigmatullin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Viktor Zaslavskiy in the 9th minute of the match. After 10 played minutes SPB KLS got a freekick which was hit by Timur Paranin. Roman Popov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rudolf Nigmatullin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vladimir Arhipov went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 17th minute, Vladimir Arhipov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Rostov fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 25 minutes into the match, SPB KLS's goal looked a bit too open when Vladimir Arhipov came free, but Rudolf Nigmatullin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th minute Viktor Zaslavskiy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rudolf Nigmatullin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 32nd minute, SPB KLS's Irakliy Safin seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Irakliy Safin the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of SPB KLS protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Irakliy Safin had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Irakliy Safin hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. 38 minutes into the match, SPB KLS's goal looked a bit too open when Nikita Kozarin came free, but Rudolf Nigmatullin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerasim Potapov in the 39th minute of play forced SPB KLS's goalkeeper Rudolf Nigmatullin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rudolf Nigmatullin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nikita Kozarin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nikita Babushkin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mark Zabeivorota having to make a save. FC Rostov's Mark Zabeivorota proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save FC Rostov from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viktor Zaslavskiy in the 47th minute of play forced SPB KLS's goalkeeper Rudolf Nigmatullin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nikita Kozarin to strike the kick off in the second half. Rudolf Nigmatullin didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 53rd minute, which inside left pole to 0-3. Gerasim Potapov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Rudolf Nigmatullin made a huge save. After 64 played minutes FC Rostov got a freekick which was hit by Ruslan Makhin. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nikita Babushkin in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mark Zabeivorota saved FC Rostov from getting behind. Ruslan Makhin's late challenge caught a SPB KLS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ruslan Makhin helped the player get up and apologised. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, Nikita Babushkin put it in 1-5 from a short distance just to the right of Mark Zabeivorota. The supporters of SPB KLS booed when FC Rostov was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruslan Makhin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roman Abramovich blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mark Zabeivorota having to make a save. A collision led to SPB KLS getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Timur Paranin hit a great ball. 86 minutes into the match, FC Rostov's goal looked a bit too open when Gerasim Borzov came free, but Mark Zabeivorota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Viktor Zaslavskiy hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. The SPB KLS fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. FC Rostov were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
