Vi Thanh's Trần Pham proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Vi Thanh from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Xuan in the 17th minute of play forced ANH DUNG DZAI's goalkeeper Bùi Minh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Hanh hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Huỳnh Cuc managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vi Thanh's supporters rose to their feet, but Huỳnh Cuc was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bùi Minh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 24 minutes into the game, Dương Hoai was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ANH DUNG DZAI's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vi Thanh the free kick. A collision led to ANH DUNG DZAI getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Dương Hoai hit a great ball. After 29 minutes, Trần Hieu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ANH DUNG DZAI and the Vi Thanh players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 29th match minute, ANH DUNG DZAI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trần Hieu to maneuver through the defense. In the 30th minute, Nguyễn Chuong sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and ANH DUNG DZAI's Bùi Minh didn't even have to move. When Đào Nghiêm-Minh came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the ANH DUNG DZAI fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Đào Nghiêm-Minh couldn't finish the play. Phạm Minh could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Trần Pham made a huge save. The long shot by Triệu Thi Ngoc in the 37th minute really tested Trần Pham's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When the match clock showed 38 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Trần Xuan sped through ANH DUNG DZAI's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bùi Minh. Bùi Minh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Xuan, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. The ANH DUNG DZAI players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Vi Thanh were winning 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Trần Xuan was the one to do the kick off. Phạm Minh struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Trần Pham didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ANH DUNG DZAI. Huỳnh Cuc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bùi Minh having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Trần Xuan in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bùi Minh prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Đào Nghiêm-Minh charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Đào Nghiêm-Minh the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Đào Nghiêm-Minh hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. If Huỳnh Cuc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hoàng Van Tai Em kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. In the 69th match minute, ANH DUNG DZAI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trần Hieu to maneuver through the defense. If Trần Xuan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Đào Nghiêm-Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Hanh was shown his second yellow card after 78 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Vi Thanh booed when ANH DUNG DZAI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Hanh didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bùi Minh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Xuan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Phạm Minh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vi Thanh's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
