Spectators: 7981 (Terracing: 5987, Seating: 1835, VIP seats: 159) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Milton Lester started the match with the kick off. Gregg Jeavons received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jarrett Prior came out and tried to block the shot, but Gregg Jeavons slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 3rd minute. HITIT FOOTBALL CLUB's Jarrett Prior proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save HITIT FOOTBALL CLUB from getting a goal against them. If Gregg Jeavons had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 14 minutes, Eden Cubitt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atherton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eden Cubitt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jarrett Prior made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gregg Jeavons in the 16th minute of play. Jarrett Prior was out of position in the 17 minute of play, and Gregg Jeavons capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gregg Jeavons really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Eden Cubitt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience was convinced that Gregg Jeavons's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jarrett Prior was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Luke Veitch didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Milton Lester went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Jarrett Prior made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gregg Jeavons in the 28th minute of play. Jarrett Prior showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gregg Jeavons in the 32nd minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, HITIT FOOTBALL CLUB's goal looked a bit too open when Gregg Jeavons came free, but Jarrett Prior reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rich Mcvicar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Jarrett Prior tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eden Cubitt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jarrett Prior read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. 39 minutes into the game, Dani Jobson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. HITIT FOOTBALL CLUB's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atherton the free kick. Howie Walkington, 40 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gregg Jeavons to strike the kick off in the second half. If Gregg Jeavons had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Atherton's Eden Cubitt got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Atherton's Luke Veitch proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Atherton from getting a goal against them. Jarrett Prior showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gregg Jeavons, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Jarrett Prior made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eden Cubitt in the 65th minute of play. Eden Cubitt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarrett Prior having to interfere. A collision led to HITIT FOOTBALL CLUB getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Dani Jobson hit a great ball. Jarrett Prior took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eden Cubitt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gregg Jeavons recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eden Cubitt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarrett Prior having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eden Cubitt in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jarrett Prior prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, Atherton's Luke Veitch got control of the ball when Alex Gaffigan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Clark Markwell's late challenge caught a HITIT FOOTBALL CLUB's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Clark Markwell helped the player get up and apologised. Clark Markwell got his second yellow card in the match during the 88th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Gregg Jeavons managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atherton's supporters rose to their feet, but Gregg Jeavons was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jarrett Prior breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in HITIT FOOTBALL CLUB's zone, Benny Twite stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jarrett Prior came out of the goal and Benny Twite tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee ended the match the Atherton players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
