Palmerston North Pirates's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tugun Jets FC the free kick. In the 4th minute, Abbott Powell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kevin Williams showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rory William in the 6th minute of the match. In the 7th minute, Belton Coleman had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jerrard Weeks during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Kevin Williams showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rory William, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Darryl Phillips made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dan Wittber in the 12th minute. In the 17th minute, Dan Wittber made a precise shot to the right of Darryl Phillips. Tugun Jets FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Tugun Jets FC's Rory William got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Tugun Jets FC getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Russel Dobbing hit a great ball. A collision led to Tugun Jets FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Jacobs Paddle hit a great ball. If Abbott Powell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 43 played minutes Tugun Jets FC got a freekick which was hit by Burns Claringbold. Kevin Williams showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacobs Paddle, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When Burns Claringbold came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Tugun Jets FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Burns Claringbold couldn't finish the play. Kevin Williams took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rory William, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57th minute, Pearce Willding hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bjorn Petersen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 63rd minute by Jacobs Paddle got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. A collision led to Tugun Jets FC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Burns Claringbold hit a great ball. If Rory William had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Palmerston North Pirates booed when Tugun Jets FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Burns Claringbold didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st minute of the match Byrne Sewell sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Darryl Phillips skillfully saved the ball. After 84 played minutes Rory William rounded Palmerston North Pirates's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. Jacobs Paddle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
