Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Brandes Atkin started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edwardo Phillips in the 3rd minute of play forced Bunjil's goalkeeper Edwardo Franklin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 4 minutes, Ray Markwell managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mundalla's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ray Markwell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Bunjil's Dalwood Holdsworth got a free kick in the 5th minute. Michael Tucknott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mack Heath having to interfere. If Michael Tucknott had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute Brandes Atkin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mack Heath saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edwardo Franklin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edwardo Phillips in the 22nd minute of the match. Edwardo Phillips sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 36 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Mundalla! In the 38th minute, Brynn Goucher left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bunjil fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Benjy Bennett kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After 45 played minutes, Mundalla's Mark Osbiston shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Edwardo Franklin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mundalla reached it. Bunjil's Edwardo Franklin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ray Markwell in the 48th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ray Markwell made a kick off. The supporters of Mundalla booed when Bunjil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjy Bennett didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mark Osbiston took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 57th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Edwardo Franklin. Bunjil's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 59th minute, Mundalla's Mark Osbiston seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Mark Osbiston the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Mundalla protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Mark Osbiston had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Brookes Devine struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Edwardo Franklin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mundalla. Bunjil's Michael Tucknott got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edwardo Phillips sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Mundalla booed when Bunjil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dalwood Holdsworth didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Edwardo Phillips could shoot a difficult shot in the 78th minute, which Edwardo Franklin however easily saved by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Mundalla's zone, Michael Tucknott stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mack Heath came out of the goal and Michael Tucknott tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brandes Atkin in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mack Heath saved Mundalla from getting behind. Bunjil's Edwardo Franklin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Bunjil from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Bunjil getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Benjy Bennett hit a great ball. Mundalla's Brooker Telfer shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 89th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Edwardo Franklin but with some difficulty. Mundalla's Edwardo Phillips got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edwardo Phillips who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 92ndth minute tested the skills of Edwardo Franklin when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 94th minute, Edwardo Phillips ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edwardo Franklin was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Bunjil fans cheered their team off the field, for while Mundalla had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
