In the 9th minute Roger Moran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aden Couzens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 11th minute, Edward Schultz had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. During the 11th minute of the match Mateusz Klich completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Mateusz Klich a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Adelaide's Benny Chamberlain was substituted for Edward Schultz. Brian Brennand didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Steven Chaptal went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 18th minute, Clark Markwell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Corbett Alonso hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. With 23 minutes on the clock, Carleton Atkin commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Brian Brennand was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Neal Weatherby showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 29 minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Steven Chaptal dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Brian Brennand, 4-0. Brian Brennand made an important save on a dangerous shot by Steven Chaptal in the 40th minute. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Steven Chaptal to strike the kick off in the second half. Benny Chamberlain came free with the goalkeeper in the 54th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Aden Couzens could save by the left post. In the 54th match minute, Elderslie Magpies was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ovidio Etxekopar to maneuver through the defense. Brian Brennand took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steven Chaptal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Roger Moran fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Adelaide's protests and gave Roger Moran a yellow card for diving instead. Roger Moran kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Steven Chaptal in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Brian Brennand saved Adelaide from getting behind. Elderslie Magpies's Ryszard Cipa was substituted for Szczepan Zieba. After a rather tough play, Adelaide's Christian Boylin got a free kick in the 67th minute. Christian Boylin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aden Couzens having to interfere. When Robben Robbermond fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Elderslie Magpies's protests and gave Robben Robbermond a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Elderslie Magpies getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Adelaide's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Neal Weatherby was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. Elderslie Magpies were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Adelaide for a fine match.
