Rafael Demanet took the corner. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orfilio Orbañanos in the 22nd minute of play forced union española s.a.'s goalkeeper Enrique Enoch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ariel Balboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stig Malmgren in the 26th minute of the match. Enrique Enoch made an important save on a dangerous shot by Muharrem Duman in the 28th minute. U. de Tarapacá's Orfilio Orbañanos got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ariel Balboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Schnaidt, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After a rather tough play, union española s.a.'s Victoriano Arana got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in union española s.a.'s zone, Rafael Demanet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enrique Enoch came out of the goal and Rafael Demanet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 35 minutes, Ubaldo Mannhardt made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. U. de Tarapacá's Ariel Balboa tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 40th minute, Orfilio Orbañanos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Enrique Enoch was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Oriol Marmolejo made in the 44th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by U. de Tarapacá's León Philippi. 45 minutes into the match, U. de Tarapacá's Orfilio Orbañanos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Enrique Enoch narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Orfilio Orbañanos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Enrique Enoch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Stig Malmgren to make the kick off. Ubaldo Mannhardt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ariel Balboa having to interfere. Enrique Enoch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orfilio Orbañanos, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Stig Malmgren could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Ariel Balboa made a huge save. With an all-out effort, union española s.a.'s Ariel Balboa threw himself towards the right post 64 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ubaldo Mannhardt, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. U. de Tarapacá made a substitution. Domingo Barcena replaced Orfilio Orbañanos. After 68 minutes union española s.a.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Rafael Demanet who took care of the corner kick. Enrique Enoch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Domingo Barcena in the 75th minute of play. Enrique Enoch took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Domingo Barcena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 88 minutes had been played when some careless play by union española s.a.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Rafael Demanet was slow to take the kick. During this time U. de Tarapacá's players had a chance to rest. The crowd rose to their feet as union española s.a.'s Rogelio Farias slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ariel Balboa. That made the score 1-2 after 93 minutes of play. When the final whistle sounded union española s.a. left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than U. de Tarapacá.
