Fc Universitatea Cluj's defense didn't have a chance, in the 24th minute, when Theocharis Vrachos scored to the left of an out of position Laurențiu Ene, making the score, 1-0. In the 26th match minute, Fc Universitatea Cluj was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tautrimas Čepulis to maneuver through the defense. Ziemowit Bentkowski received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Laurențiu Ene came out and tried to block the shot, but Ziemowit Bentkowski slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 33rd minute. In the 47th minute, Tautrimas Čepulis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Theocharis Vrachos scored 4-0 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Laurențiu Ene, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Theocharis Vrachos in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Laurențiu Ene saved Fc Universitatea Cluj from getting behind. Vintilă Enigărescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Laurențiu Ene showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Theocharis Vrachos in the 62nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Theocharis Vrachos in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Laurențiu Ene saved Fc Universitatea Cluj from getting behind. If Ziemowit Bentkowski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Beniamin Brodzki prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Laurențiu Ene showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ziemowit Bentkowski, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Theocharis Vrachos in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Laurențiu Ene saved Fc Universitatea Cluj from getting behind. After 96 played minutes Fc Universitatea Cluj got a freekick which was hit by Marco Reus.
